How to Stop Ticket Fraud and Fake Screenshots at Your Gate

6 October 2026 · 4 min read

The problem with static QR codes

A static QR code is just a picture. Once one person screenshots it and forwards it, anyone holding that image looks like a valid ticket holder. If your gate team scans the same code five times, you have let four people in for free.

Use rotating codes

TRAX tickets refresh their QR code every few seconds, like a bank token. A screenshot is stale within moments, so the only code that works is the one on the ticket holder's live phone screen.

Scan everything, no exceptions

Fraud grows where scanning is relaxed. Give every gate staff member or volunteer a scanner — on TRAX, that is just their phone — and scan every single person in, including VIPs and 'I know the organizer' guests. The scan is what marks a ticket used and blocks reuse.

Handle transfers properly

People genuinely sell or gift tickets. If your platform voids the old code and issues a fresh one on transfer — like TRAX resale does — the buyer is safe and the seller cannot double-use the ticket. Never accept 'I bought it from someone, here is their screenshot'.
